Green began in the early 1970s with two brothers, Mark and Matt Manker, and a loose circle of schoolmates, including Andrew Ellison, all of whom attended high school together in Petoskey, Michigan. Mark and Matt’s parents had a cottage on Grand Traverse Bay near Atwood, and that stretch of shoreline inspired the band’s name: Atwood Green. Over the decades, the band has taken many forms – from three piece lineups to four and five piece versions – but the spirit has always been the same: we get together because we love making music. That simple idea still drives us today as we continue to share feel good live music with audiences across Northern Michigan.
Atwood Green brings together over four decades of classic rock performance in Northern Michigan. Current members include the original three – Mark, Matt, and Andrew – now joined by Kathy on vocals and David on multiple wind instruments, synthesizers, and vocals.
